Les parties les plus anciennes remontent au XIe ou XIIe siècle (une fenêtre au nord et les fenêtres de l'abside).

La nef fut agrandie au XVe siècle.

Le portail de la façade ouest est du XVIe siècle, ainsi que la chapelle seigneuriale au nord.

Un porche précède le portail occidental.

L'église a été restaurée au XIXe siècle, puis plus récemment.

Il semble que le curé d'Ambloy ait dépendu du prieuré Saint-Martin de Lavardin. Au Moyen-Âge, la seigneurie d'Ambloy dépendait également de celle de Lavardin. Juste avant la Révolution, la paroisse d'Ambloy relevait du diocèse du Mans.
