Wikipediya, ensiklopediya xosere ra

This template is used to configure the articles found in the Selected quote section found on most Wikipedia Portal main pages. Used it on the article pages that are linked to the Selected quote sub-page, e.g. Portal:Foo/Selected quote/1. For the quickest and easiest way to create the Portal:Foo/Selected bar sub-page and related article links, use one of the {{Numbered subpages}} templates.

Template layout

[çımeyi bıvurne]
{{Selected quote
| quote       = <!--- Required --->
| quoted      = <!--- Required --->
| omit_quoted =
| comment     =
| dates       =
| source      =
| section     =
| archive     =
}}

It is unnecessary to include braces, quotation marks or other wiki-markup in the template. The |comment= field does allow the use of wiki-markup at the contributor's discretion.

  • quote - is the quote verbiage, no quotation marks needed.
  • quoted - is name of the person who is being quoted, it will automatically Wikilink.
  • omit quoted - Remove the linked quoted person. Use this in the rare case there is not an article on the individual on WP, set it to yes. If this is the case, use the |comment= field for the quoted person's name.
  • comment - A brief, non-linked comment after the quoted individual's name.
  • dates - The author's date of birth and death, no parenthesis needed.
  • source - The work the quote is coming from, it will automatically Wikilink.
  • section - is the section in the work the quote appears.
  • archive - Using this field with a value of no will remove the More selected quotes link in the lower left corner. Use this field if you are using the |footer= parameter in the {{Random box-header subpage}} template on the main portal page.

The following example:

{{Selected quote
| quote = Good wine is a good familiar creature if it be well used.
| quoted = William Shakespeare
| dates  = 1564-1616
| comment = Dead English guy
| source = Othello
| section = II. iii. (315)
}}

will produce:

Good wine is a good familiar creature if it be well used.
William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
Othello II. iii. (315)

Dead English guy
