Incubator test project of Zazaki Wikivoyage: Question from Incubator administrators[çımeyi bıvurne]

My apologies for writing in English.

Someone in this test project has requested the deletion of some pages. However, some of these pages point to each other, and others still have pages linked to them. I am reluctant to delete pages until these issues are addressed. In particular, I would appreciate it if someone would:

  • Please go back and edit pages that link to the pages marked for deletion. Make sure you change the links so they go to the right (replacement) page.
    Alternatively, you can leave the "wrong" page in as a redirect to the right page.
  • I have two other specific comments I need to see addressed:
  1. incubator:Wy/diq/Qraleya Zewbiyayi: There seems to be real content on this page (in past versions). I do not see evidence anywhere that the content was moved somewhere else. Without that, I am reluctant to delete the page.
  2. incubator:Wy/diq/Amerikay Veroci: The versions with and without the -a (Ameri_aya and Ameri_ay) and the versions with -k- and -q- seem to point in circles to each other. Please make sure that everything points to the version you want remaining after all deletions take place.

Hello. A policy regarding the removal of "advanced rights" (administrator, bureaucrat, etc. ) was adopted by global community consensus in 2013. According to this policy, the stewards are reviewing administrators' activity on all Wikimedia Foundation wikis with no inactivity policy. To the best of our knowledge, your wiki does not have a formal process for removing "advanced rights" from inactive accounts. This means that the stewards will take care of this according to the admin activity review.

We have determined that the following users meet the inactivity criteria (no edits and no log actions for more than 2 years):

These users will receive a notification soon, asking them to start a community discussion if they want to retain some or all of their rights. If the users do not respond, then their advanced rights will be removed by the stewards.

IMPORTANT: Complaint About Alphabet and Words of Entries Change[çımeyi bıvurne]

Hello, dear Zazaki Wikipedia group. I'd like to make a complaint about my entries that had been changed into another alphabet by members like Karber:Vuzorg without my notice. My entries which I had written as Karber:Newera account had been changed, because of I forgot its pass and email I couldn't use it any longer. Moreover, some of my friends told me the same happened to their entries too. This member has changed our entries' alphabet (which is Jaladet's Kurdish alphabet and used by widespread Zazaki standardization group called Vate) without our permission into another alphabet which is unfamiliar to most of Zaza speakers. Unfortunately, admin like Karber:Mirzali confirmed this unfair changes without informing us also. I hope there will be no any intervention against our entries' alphabet anymore. Regards.

You say into another alphabet which is unfamiliar to most of Zaza speakers. Can you prove your unright claim? You are talking about an Zazaki alphabet which the most Zaza authors use since the early 90s. Hundreds of books and periodicals and internet sites exist with this alphabet. Of course, many authors use also the Kurdish Bedirxan-Alphabet but this one was not developed for Zazaki, just for Kurmanci (Northern-Kurdish). --Asmêno Bêwayir (mesac) 14:39, 28 Nisane 2017 (UTC)

New notification when a page is connected to Wikidata[çımeyi bıvurne]

The Wikidata development team is about to deploy a new feature on all Wikipedias. It is a new type of notification (via Echo, the notification system you see at the top right of your wiki when you are logged in), that will inform the creator of a page, when this page is connected to a Wikidata item.

You may know that Wikidata provides a centralized system for all the interwikilinks. When a new page is created, it should be connected to the corresponding Wikidata item, by modifying this Wikidata item. With this new notification, editors creating pages will be informed when another editor connects this page to Wikidata.

This feature will be deployed on May 30th on all the Wikipedias, excepting English, French and German. This feature will be disable by default for existing editors, and enabled by default for new editors.

This is the first step of the deployments, the Wikipedias and other Wikimedia projects will follow in the next months.

During Wikimedia Hackathon 2016, the Discovery team worked on one of the items on the 2015 community wishlist, namely enabling searching the archive of deleted pages. This feature is now ready for production deployment, and will be enabled on all wikis, except Wikidata.

Right now, the feature is behind a feature flag - to use it on your wiki, please go to the Special:Undelete page, and add &fuzzy=1 to the URL, like this: https://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AUndelete&fuzzy=1. Then search for the pages you're interested in. There should be more results than before, due to using ElasticSearch indexing (via the CirrusSearch extension).

We plan to enable this improved search by default on all wikis soon (around August 1, 2017). If you have any objections to this - please raise them with the Discovery team via email or on this announcement's discussion page. Like most Mediawiki configuration parameters, the functionality can be configured per wiki. Once the improved search becomes the default, you can still access the old mode using &fuzzy=0 in the URL, like this: https://test.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AUndelete&fuzzy=0

Please note that since Special:Undelete is an admin-only feature, this search capability is also only accessible to wiki admins.

Mapframe is a feature that enables users to easily display interactive maps right on wiki pages. Currently, most Wikipedias don’t have mapframe. But fifteen Wikipedias, along with all the other Wikimedia projects, are using mapframe today to display maps on thousands of pages.

A little background: over the last few months, the Foundation’s Collaboration team has been working to improve the stability and user experience of the maps service. In addition, a question about long-term support for the maps service was recently settled, and a small team has been assigned for routine maintenance. Given these developments, bringing the benefits of mapframe to Wikipedias that lack the feature seems both safe and supportable. Nine Wikipedias that use a stricter version of Flagged Revisions will not get mapframe in this release.
